Located in West Hurley, New York, Potential Unlimited Productions has been re-launched and is offering a selection of workshops for people with developmental disabilities. Between April 5th and April 30th, attendees can select from 3 sessions a day that are designed for active participation in arts, entertainment and exercise education. Classes are held at the new Ulster Studio (about 30 minutes north of New Paltz, NY).
Some of these workshops include World Music, Intro to Musical Performance, Songwriting, Sing-a-long, and gentle stretch Yoga and movement training, Fun with Dance, and Games in Theatre Arts to exercise the imagination. These courses are delivered through The Music Institute; a performing arts immersion program, sponsored by Potential Unlimited Productions, Inc. and NYS OMRDD. The Music Institutes provide creative time and space to explore performance media, learn skills, develop talents and perform! Teaching artists offer distinct workshops which introduce participants to a variety of performance art including dance, drama , vocal and instrumental music.
Potential Unlimited Productions is a non-profit organization with an experienced and talented staff whose mission is to:
- identify, nurture and present the artistic talents of people with developmental disabilities;
- Promote collaboration between performers with developmental disabilities and professional musicians, choreographers and theater directors in public performances of the highest production standards;
- Create opportunities for schools and community groups to work with performing artists with developmental disabilities, learning with them and from them;
- Provide support and services that enhance the quality of life of performing artists with developmental disabilities;
- Integrate performers with developmental disabilities into the cultural and social life of the community.
