William Peace hosts a blog he calls Bad Cripple. Today I'll call him a mad, Bad Cripple and for good reason. Ok, maybe he's not as mad as he is frustrated. Either way, I respect this "man with a mission" because he's made his point, he's encouraged others to take notice, and now he's taking it to the top.
The issue? Bill would like to attend a Barack Obama event and through research has learned that such an event may or may not be accessible to people with disabilities. In fact, he's learned that a local event he was hoping to attend is NOT accessible.
"I went to the website of every major candidate, Democratic and Republican, and not a single website includes any information about wheelchair access. Unless disabled people are part of the democratic process, and that means a recognized voting block, their existence will not be valued."
Take a moment and browse the campaign web site of your favorite candidate. Once you've verified for yourself that you, or someone you care about, would indeed be excluded from participating in this democratic process, do what William Peace is doing. Make a little noise. Demand answers. Spread the word.
