People with disabilities can take control of their lives again! That is the focus at the 22nd Annual Convention of the Association of Self Advocacy (ASANC) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on March 27th-29th. ASANC is about bringing the concepts of self-advocacy together with the self-determination of its members to help people with developmental disabilities to take responsibility for their lives, and bring about change towards full inclusion in society.
Self-advocacy is the ability to advocate for one’s rights of equality and freedom. It involves recognizing the specific needs of one's developmental disability and determining how an individual wants to live independently, make personal choices and live in their community, without compromising the dignity of oneself or others.
Howard Renensland, CEO and Founder of [with]-TV, will deliver the keynote message at Walk the Talk of Self Advocacy at 9:00 AM on Saturday March 28th. See www.asanc-convention.com for information about this event - check there for details on the Agenda, coming shortly!
